Facebook wants to transform the social media site into a virtual TV network in which users are encouraged to consume establishment content.
Facebook was already talking to TV studios about licensing shows, but what hasn’t been reported is Facebook’s overall intent to eventually operate as a TV network in which only “approved” content is shared on the site, such as news articles from the mainstream media.
“The addition of ‘unscripted, scripted and sports’ programming, which, like Facebook’s core ‘newsfeed’ technology, will likely be tailored to individual users, is just the latest step in the social network’s attempt to completely pervade every aspect of our digital lives,” reported the New York Daily News.
The decision comes as the global elite, rattled by the rise of Donald Trump and populist movements across Europe, are tightening up Internet censorship to snuff out resistance to unelected power operating from behind the scenes.
The elites are concerned about the collapsing influence of the mainstream media after they’ve spent decades placing willing servants in leadership positions within media as their primary tactic for controlling public opinion.
“The voice of the people expresses the mind of the people, and that mind is made up for it by the group leaders… and by those persons who understand the manipulation of public opinion,” wrote Edward Bernays in his book Propaganda. “If we understand the mechanism and motives of the group mind, is it not possible to control and regiment the masses according to our will without their knowing it?”
The goal of the elites is to create an unelected and unaccountable global state, an “expert-directed” technocracy, operating under the illusion of a democratically-elected government.
They’ve already made progress in this regard regionally with unelected bodies such as the European Union, but to sustain public support, they must condition the public to accept a political system in which their choices are limited to very narrow alternatives.
Unfortunately for them, trust in the mainstream media is at an all-time low – and anything the media’s against, the public’s supports, such as President-elect Trump who started surging in the polls during the presidential race by attacking the establishment media.
In response, the tech elites, who have already convinced the public to narrow their Internet use to Facebook and Twitter, are restricting the free flow of information on social media to prevent users from questioning the status quo.
Likewise, the mainstream media is claiming any news that contradicts the establishment narrative is “fake news.”
If people aren’t looking beyond establishment sources for their information, they’ll never know what the elites don’t want them to know.
