We saw during the GOP nomination process that when Trump would win a state, Cruz operatives would come in after losing and select electors loyal to them to flip the state if the nomination went into additional rounds.

Now we see an attempt to do the same thing with the Electoral College and overturn the popular vote with a small cabal.

Leftist progs (“progressives”) have always despised examining the written Constitution & original documents for intent, appealing instead to a “living document” view of the law.

But saying that we have a “living Constitution” is simply a prevarication to allow judicial decrees that are divorced from the text of the law and unaccountable to it.

After first railing against the “unfairness” of the Electoral College, progs are now trying to overthrow the election and seeking to channel the phony play “Hamilton” by appealing to Hamilton’s Federalist Paper, even calling themselves “Hamilton Electors”.

In this video, we do something novel — we actually look at the text of Hamilton’s writing and expose their lies about Hamilton’s intent for the Electoral College.

We also look at what will happen to faithless electors if they try to subvert the election.

A federal judge in Colorado has already shut down a lawsuit by electors there, stating the obvious: it looks like “a political stunt to prevent Donald Trump from becoming president.”

And while they were chosen by the political parties, in most states they also signed an affidavit to abide by the popular vote.

If they choose to break that contract, they expose themselves to a very real possibility of being criminally charged with perjury and election fraud.

The Electoral College still performs a vital function in our elections.

The Federalists were adamant in their papers that they had built in safeguards to keep the Federal government from consolidating all power to itself and making the States servants to it.

The Electoral College, breaking down the election state by state, is one of the few surviving expressions of true constitutional federalism and should be retained for that reason alone.

There are practical reasons as well.

Trump pointed out that if the election were based on popular votes only, he would have focused his campaign on just 5 states instead of 15.

The Electoral College is a firewall against concentration of power in the hands of a few states which are really controlled by a few large cities.

It is also a firewall against the corruption and ballot stuffing that is common in those few large cities.

Reform is needed, and can be easily achieved, to ensure that electors will be faithful to the popular vote.

The prime reason Hamilton gave for an independent body was that it would “avoid tumult & disorder” created by “cabal, intrigue & corruption”.

Hamilton wrote:

No senator, representative, or other person holding a place of trust or profit under the United States, can be of the numbers of the electors. Thus without corrupting the body of the people, the immediate agents in the election will at least enter upon the task free from any sinister bias.

Yet House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi’s daughter, Christine, is an elector, pushing conspiracy theories from a former CIA case officer, Robert Baer.

Baer has called for a new election because of Russian involvement saying “I’m deeply disturbed by the fact that the Russians interfered and I would like to see the evidence. If the evidence is there, I don’t see any other way than to vote again.”

Notice that he pronounces it as “fact” although he hasn’t seen any evidence and doesn’t even know if evidence exists.

Just the kind of intrigue and corruption to create tumult and disorder that the Electoral College was supposed to stop.
