A soldier stationed at Fort Hood is in police custody for allegedly smuggling transporting undocumented immigrants across the Texas-Mexico border while in uniform.

If convicted, Army Pvt. Eric Alexander Rodriguez, who previously trained at Fort Sam Houston, could serve up to 10 years in prison.

Border Patrol agents at the Sarita checkpoint, about an hour southwest of Corpus Christi, found two undocumented immigrants on Thursday hiding in the back seat of a Chevrolet truck driven by Rodriguez, dressed in a military uniform, according to court documents obtained by the San Antonio Express-News.
