Fort Lauderdale soon may have a new way to track down and then disable your car if you have racked up multiple unpaid parking tickets.

The system the city is looking at relies on specially programmed cameras that rapidly scan license plates and identify ticket-paying procrastinators.

The cameras would be attached to parking enforcement officer vehicles and operate while officers troll city streets, parking lots and garages. The officers would put a boot on any car identified as a three-time parking offender.
