Talk show host Glenn Beck blames neither Donald Trump nor Melania Trump nor the speechwriter for the fuss that flared after one small section of Melania Trump’s speech had strong similarities to one given in 2008 by Michelle Obama.
Beck, who has been firmly in the anti-Trump wing of the Republican Party and supported Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, for the GOP presidential nomination, on Tuesday said the alleged plagiarism was no accident.
“I don’t think Donald Trump or Melania had anything to do with it. I think somebody sabotaged them. I think this was done intentionally. No good speechwriter does that,” Beck said on his radio show.
Beck ruled out any suggestion Melania Trump wrote the speech and, by coincidence, used words similar to those of Michelle Obama.
“That would be like lightning striking 15 times in the same place,” he said. “It is the only explanation that makes no sense.”
