The Islamic State terrorist group may be using high-tech drone surveillance in its efforts to remove Syrian President Bashar al-Assad from power.
A video uploaded Saturday to YouTube includes surveillance footage of Army Military Base 93 near Raqqa province in northern Syria, CNN reported. A caption with the video reads, “From the drone of the army of the Islamic State,” the news outlet reported.
The White House said last week that airstrikes in Syria may be an option for dealing with the Islamic State group’s territorial gains.
“We’re actively considering what’s going to be necessary to deal with that threat, and we’re not going to be restricted by borders,” Ben Rhodes, Obama’s deputy national security adviser, told the Associated Press. “We’ve shown time and again that if there’s a counterterrorism threat, we’ll take direct action against that threat, if necessary.”
