Former presidential hopeful Jeb Bush on Friday announced he would not back presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump.
“Donald Trump has not demonstrated that temperament or strength of character,” the former Florida governor wrote on Facebook. “He has not displayed a respect for the Constitution. And, he is not a consistent conservative. These are all reasons why I cannot support his candidacy.”
Jeb’s denouncement follows statements from his brother, former President George W. Bush, as well as his father, former President George H.W. Bush, saying they would not be participating in this year’s election following a decisive Trump victory in Indiana Tuesday.
Ex-Vice President Dick Cheney, however, on Friday told CNN he would support the business mogul.
So far, lack of support from the mainstream Republican establishment does not seem to have had a negative affect on The Donald’s popularity.
