After a drunken driving conviction, the federal government wants to deport a Mexican man for the 11th time.
Jorge Luis Barrientos Quintanilla, 24, of Weslaco — a Mexican citizen who isn’t legally present in the United States — pleaded guilty to driving while intoxicated, a Class B misdemeanor, on Thursday.
Hidalgo County Court at Law Judge Rodolfo “Rudy” Gonzalez sentenced Barrientos to 180 days in jail, but suspended the sentence and ordered him to spend 10 months on probation, according to court records.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement detained Barrientos at the Hidalgo County jail the next day.
