Even mainstream media is documenting programs by multiple federal agencies working with local police to capture license plates of cars at gun shows.

But these measures are crude and primitive compared to data that will soon be available to the government through “self-driving” cars.

Just one reason why California Gov. Brown threw caution to the wind and signed a bill giving Google what they wanted — the ability to test their cars on public roads without human drivers, steering wheels or brakes.
