Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk recently donated $10M to The Future of Life Institute in order to fund 37 research projects that are dedicated to keeping Artificial Intelligence “beneficial.”

This project includes $136,000 to study artificial intelligence in weapons so that we can keep them under “meaningful human control.” Another $1.5M will be set aside to build an AI research center, which will be operated by Oxford and Cambridge Universities.

And more funding has come from the Open Philanthropy Project.

“There are reasons to believe that unregulated and unconstrained development could incur significant dangers, both from ‘bad actors’ like irresponsible governments and from the unprecedented capability of the technology itself,” explains Nick Bostrom, of Oxford University.
