Republican presidential candidate Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., has a new video ad touting his bill to defund Planned Parenthood in the wake of the undercover videos that reveal high-level executives haggling prices for fetal organs.
“Over half a billion tax dollars every year. They perform abortions and sell baby body parts,” says a voice-over in the video. “Rand Paul is taking action. As a pro-life doctor, Rand Paul cared for premature babies to save their site. As a conservative leader, Rand is forcing a vote this week to end taxpayer funding for Planned Parenthood. Standing for life from day one — Dr. Rand Paul for President.”
Paul posted the video to his Facebook page and said his campaign plans to run “hard-hitting TV, radio, and Internet ads.” He also requested donations to his presidential campaign.
“Planned Parenthood’s lobbying machine is working overtime to shut up and shut down their opposition in the critical days leading up to Monday’s vote,” he wrote. “But the majority of Americans are flat-out disgusted… If pro-abortion Democrats in the Senate dare vote against my bill, they’ll likely run into a buzz saw at the polls in 2016.”
Paul said Americans have two days to pressure lawmakers to defund Planned Parenthood. Planned Parenthood provides the majority of abortions in the U.S. and received $540.6 million taxpayer dollars in fiscal year 2014, an analysis of their tax filings show.
