YARROWEYAH dairy farmer Jim McKeown never dreamed the cow manure he trudges through every day could one day earn him a serious dollar.

However, a new initiative, released yesterday for public comment, could see manure become a valuable cash cow for Australia’s dairy farmers.

Under the scheme farmers would earn carbon credits by either capturing and destroying harmful greenhouse gases released by cow manure or by turning it into a source of renewable energy.
