Outgoing president Obama has bombastically claimed that he is responsible for making sure the intelligence community is not subject to political spin, despite the fact that scores of intelligence operatives complained that Obama twisted intelligence on ISIS for years to fit a political narrative.
In an interview with The Daily Show, Obama also hit out at president elect Trump over the latter’s assertion that he does not need daily in depth intelligence briefings with the same content. Obama accused Trump of “flying blind” despite the fact that Obama himself willingly ignored intelligence briefings on the threat of ISIS, and even referred to the terrorist group as the Jayvee squad.
“Part of what we have done is, to just hammer away at the basic principle that intelligence shall not be subject to political spin,” Obama said.
He added, “I’m very proud of the fact that, over the course of eight years, the message I’ve sent to every intelligence agency is, I want it straight, without spin, and I think we’ve developed a culture that does that.”
Except that is the exact opposite of the views of over 50 CENTCOM intelligence operatives who say they were given “implied orders” not to report facts on the ground in Iraq regarding terrorist activity. Instead, they were encouraged to substitute economic or environmental information for terror related intelligence.
The reason was that the Obama administration wanted to downplay the rise of ISIS for its own political ends. At the time the US was aiding so called ‘moderate’ rebels in Syria in an effort to topple the Assad regime, and thereby destabilize a Middle Eastern ally of Vladimir Putin.
A congressional joint task force corroborated the CENTCOM employees’ claims in August.
“What happened at CENTCOM is unacceptable — our warfighters suffer when bad analysis is presented to senior policymakers,” Rep. Ken Calvert said. “We must continue our efforts until we fix it.”
Rep. Mike Pompeo (Kan.) told CBS News “there’s enormous evidence about how this information from talented career professionals inside the analytic arm at CENTCOM did their job and accurately depicted what was going on on the ground, but when it got to very senior levels, that information was changed.”
Additionally, former DIA head Michael Flynn revealed that Obama routinely turned a deaf ear to updates and reports on the rise of ISIS because they didn’t fit with the narrative the administration was feeding the American public.
Flynn’s analysis dovetailed with the claims of inside sources who said that Obama routinely refused to read intelligence reports on groups “he does not consider terrorists,” despite them being on a U.S. list of designated terrorists.
Given these facts, how completely hypocritical, or just willfully ignorant, is it of Obama to say he is proud of developing a culture where intelligence is NOT spun?
For Obama to then criticize Trump and suggest he is putting America in danger regarding intelligence briefings is just too rich.
It was for these very reasons that Trump referred to Obama as the ‘head of ISIS’, a label that was misunderstood by most after being ill reported by the fake news media.
In the interview with fake journalist Trevor Noah, who presents a fake comedy news show, Obama said “It doesn’t matter how smart you are, you have to have the best information possible to make the best decisions possible.”
Again, how rich.
Elsewhere during the fake interview, Obama suggested that Hillary Clinton’s hacked emails Were ‘fairly routine,’ and ‘not very interesting,’ while simultaneously claiming Russia hacked the DNC, in a successful effort to influence the US election.
“It was the consensus of all the intelligence agencies that organizations affiliated with Russian intelligence were responsible for the hacking of the Democratic National Convention,” Obama said.
Obama also implied that Trump could have been behind the ‘operation’, stating “The president-elect in some of his political events, specifically said to the Russians, ‘Hack Hillary’s emails so that we can finally find out what’s going on and confirm our conspiracy theories.’”
“I don’t think there was any doubt among anybody in the media or among members of Congress as to who was being advantaged or disadvantaged by the political gossip that was being put out in drip, drip, drip fashion up to the election.” Obama claimed.
