Nancy Pelosi expounds on the Constitution. It was April Fools’ Day, after all

It was April Fools’ Day but Nancy Pelosi wasn’t fooling. The Democrat House Minority Leader said during a press conference outside the West Wing of the White House that Obamacare is something the signers of the Declaration of Independence desired for all Americans:
“It is really so heart warming for those of us who worked so hard [to make sure] many more people in our country would have access to healthcare,” Pelosi said on the day Obamacare at gunpoint went live. “There are those who are critics, and there have been bumps in the road, but they’ve only been turbulence. They have not been an obstacle to the American people having the healthier life that our founders wanted for them: life — a healthier life — liberty and the freedom to pursue their happiness, not [be] job-locked, but having benefits that having health-care policies that are portable, they could be self-employed, be a photographer — they could start their own business, they could change jobs, they could reach their aspirations. Isn’t that a wonderful thing for a society and for an economy?”
Back in February the California Democrat invoked the founders to defend the law. “The law is very sound policy. To go to back to our founders once again, they sacrificed it all for life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. This bill, the Affordable Care Act, is about a healthier life, the liberty to pursue your happiness. That is solid policy, and the mandate is central to that,” she said.
Following that earlier proclamation, Katherine Rosario, writing for Heritage Action for America, spelled out how the founders would likely react if they were alive today to witness Pelosi’s perversion of the Declaration of Independence.
“It is extremely unlikely that the Founders had anything remotely close to Obamacare in mind when they were drafting the Constitution and setting up the government,” writes Rosario.
“On the contrary, the Founders envisioned and set up a limited government, and it’s more likely they are rolling in their graves as they watch Obamacare unfold than rejoicing over it. Obamacare is yet another expansion of the administrative state, where federal agencies and bureaucrats have an increasing amount of control of the intimate details of our daily decisions and lives.”
According to Nancy and the Democrats, the founders advocated for enlarging the administrative state, assaulting religious liberty, forcing people out of their jobs, and sabotaging the economy.
This sort of befuddlement is to be expected. Recall Nancy’s confusion about the Second Amendment and the constitutional right to own firearms. She thinks this is guaranteed by the First Amendment:
Finally, the scholar Pelosi seems to think the Declaration of Independence is part of the Constitution:
