Obamanoid Coffee Party Event A Flop Despite Vigorous Corporate Media Coverage 150310top2

The phony astroturf Obamanoid Coffee Party national event this past weekend turned out to be a complete flop, despite vigorous promotion on behalf of the corporate media, with just handfuls of people showing up to meetings in major cities.

As we reported last week, despite nearly a year of demonizing the Tea Party as little more than an umbrella for racist extremists, CNN and the rest of the establishment media lavished the Coffee Party with favorable coverage in anticipation of National Coffee Party Day, which was held on March 13th.

The difference in treatment was undoubtedly explained by the fact that the Coffee Party was founded by an Obama campaign operative, Annabel Park, who campaigned for Obama in 2008 and was one of the organizers and operators of the influential United for Obama video channel at YouTube. Park was also a former strategy analyst at the New York Times, another establishment mouthpiece that afforded the Coffee Party sympathetic coverage.

Claiming to represent a grass roots alternative to the Tea Party, which has to a large extent been hijacked by neo-cons, the Coffee Party is little more than an attempt to re-energize the Obamanoid base behind big government and socialism. A video presentation by Park provides few clues as to what the Coffee Party actually stands for apart from limitless immigration and putting unwarranted trust in government.

However, despite the best efforts of the establishment to portray the Coffee Party as a viable rival to the Tea Party, the numbers just don’t add up.

“Despite a news-media buildup over the past few weeks from CNN, MSNBC, New York Times, National Public Radio, Washington Post, Seattle Times and dozens of other outlets, the estimated 350 coffee houses hosting events around the country today welcomed mostly miniscule crowds,” reports World Net Daily.

WND quotes a CNN article which asked, “Will the Coffee Party rise to the scale of the Tea Party movement? Saturday is the first big test.”

With the Tea Party receiving virtually no mainstream media coverage aside from hostile dismissal, the September 12 event in Washington DC was attended by at least 500,000 and some estimates say up to a million people. This followed an April 15 tax day national Tea Party campaign which attracted people to gatherings of varying size in nearly 2,000 different cities.

“Over the summer, tea partiers packed health-care town halls by the hundreds, overflowing venues and leading to lines running around the block,” reports WND.

In comparison, the national Coffee Party event, even with the aid of saturation corporate media coverage, attracted mere handfuls to gatherings held in major cities.

Alex Pappas visited a gathering in Washington DC, “only to find a small gathering of five activists huddled at a small table.”

Pappas said that the participants were vague on what they actually stood for (a telltale sign that this is not a true grass roots movement), apart from a belief in massive uncontrolled immigration policies.

“They spoke mostly in generalities — not diving into the specifics of policy or really asserting positions on any topic — about health care, energy, poverty and climate change, though one participant said he feels strongly about immigration reform, explaining “everyone should live where they want to live,” writes Pappas.

Even the larger public gatherings which were covered by CNN news crews attracted no more than 50 people.

“According to numbers posted on The Coffee Party USA website, it appears most crowds numbered fewer than 20,” reports WND.

San Francisco got 15 attendees, Blacksburg, Va., lists 6, while the coffee party at Hyde Park in Chicago was attended by just three people.

The failure of the corporate media to drum up interest in the Coffee Party not only illustrates the declining influence of establishment news outlets, it also serves as a testament to Americans’ ability to distinguish genuine grass roots movements, which is how the Tea Party began nearly three years ago as an evolution of the End the Fed movement before it was infiltrated by Republicans, from phony astroturf contrivances like the Obamanoid Coffee Party, a movement with seemingly no purpose aside from acting as a vehicle through which the establishment is attempting, and evidently failing, to restore blind obedience in big government.
