Crass PR simply not working on Americans

Barack Obama will today “enroll” in the Affordable Care Act, just hours before the new insurance deadline, and just hours after CNN released a fresh survey indicating that a record high number of Americans hate it.

NBC News White House reporter Kristen Welker reported today that before the day is out, Obama will take time out of his important 17 day vacation in Hawaii to “sign up” for the Affordable Health Care Act.

Thomas noted that it is not clear as to why Obama would have to enroll in the program given that the president and all White House staff are already covered through the Federal Employee’s Health Benefits Program.

Of course, the answer to this complex conundrum is that this is just another bullshit PR stunt from the White House in an effort to offset the vast rejection of Obamacare by Americans.

CNN reports that a CNN/ORC International survey released Monday indicates that Sixty-two percent of voters say they now oppose Obamacare, up four points from November.

An additional sixty-three percent say they believe the new law will increase the amount of money they personally pay for medical care. This “may not be a good sign for a law known as the ‘Affordable Care Act.’ CNN notes.

Only 16 percent believe that the new healthcare law will have any benefit for them, with 42 percent saying they will be worse off. A further 35% do not believe that they will be able to keep the same doctor under the new law.

The ACA rollout has been an unmitigated disaster for the Obama administration. Despite claiming to have enrolled half a million Americans in December, the total number of those who have signed up is nowhere near the projected figure needed to make it a financially viable program.

The shambolic handling of ACA rollout in the last three months now has insiders admitting that 2013 has been the worst year of Obama’s presidency.
