The international community has just four weeks to stop the Ebola crisis ‘spiralling completely out of control’, organisations working in West Africa will today warn.
At an international summit convened to tackle the epidemic the International Rescue Committee (IRC), on behalf of 34 NGOs, will call for a six-point plan to combat ‘infection rates that are growing exponentially’.
The number of cases is ‘doubling roughly every three weeks’, the organisations will warn, as the World Health Organisation this week revealed the death toll has surpassed 3,000 in West Africa.
It comes as Save the Children warned five people are infected with the virus every hour.
