In a Sunday interview, Peter Dreier, chair of Urban & Environmental Policy Department at Occidental College, argued that as US officials and the pro-establishment mainstream media have started to break their silence on major rallies such as “the ‘Occupy Wall Street’ protests and the protests by various unions and community organizing groups need to focus on some very specific demands.”
He urged the protesters to “start working more closely with elected officials and negotiating with the banks.”
Dreier noted that such negotiations should push for legislation that creates more jobs and ensures that people do not lose their homes.
