“60 Minutes” host Scott Pelley still can’t wrap his mind around the fact that former President Donald Trump soundly won the 2024 election against Democrat opponent Kamala Harris.
On the first Sunday following Trump’s landslide victory, the CBS anchor interviewed two Democrat business owners who cast their vote for Trump due to his economic and border agenda.
“You grew up in a Democratic household?” Pelley asked Pennsylvania restaurant owner Roz Werkheiser.
“Yes,” she replied.
“But you just voted for Donald Trump?” he asked.
“Yes,” she again said.
Pelley, unable to comprehend this, asked, “Inflation is down by more than half. Interest rates are falling. Mortgage rates are falling. Wages are going up. Are you not feeling that?”
“I don’t feel it. No, I don’t feel it,” Werkheiser responded. “I don’t feel it at all. Everybody I talk to, nobody’s wages went up.”
Pelley then probed a working-class Hispanic who turned out in support of Trump.
“Democrats would’ve expected to do really well with latino voters,” he said to a Hispanic man named Ronald. “Donald Trump made a lot of inroads in this election, and I wonder why you think that is.”
When Ronald explained that the state of the economy influenced his decision as well as Trump’s stance on securing the border and deporting illegal aliens, Pelley remarked to viewers, “Today, Ronald finds some common ground with Trump — even on immigration!”
The limousine liberal class like Pelley still can’t come to grips with the fact that everyday voters rejected a candidate who had not received a single primary vote and who was anointed by the Democrat Party aristocracy.
