US Attorney General Pam Bondi weighed in on the spate of terror attacks targeting private Tesla vehicles and dealerships, pointing out federal officials will treat the acts of vandalism as “domestic terrorism.”
“The swarm of violent attacks on Tesla property is nothing short of domestic terrorism,” Bondi said in a statement Tuesday.
The former Florida attorney general added some of the vandals prosecuted by the Justice Dept. over their political attacks on Tesla have received federal sentences with five-year minimums.
“The Department of Justice has already charged several perpetrators with that in mind, including in cases that involve charges with five-year mandatory minimum sentences.”
“We will continue investigations that impose severe consequences on those involved in these attacks, including those operating behind the scenes to coordinate and fund these crimes,” Bondi added.
One vandal who targeted a Tesla charging station in South Carolina with a molotov cocktail is facing a maximum 20-year prison term and a minimum five-year sentence for Arson of Property in Interstate Commerce.
The US Attorney General’s vow to hunt down anti-Tesla terrorists comes as unhinged leftists have attacked several Tesla dealerships and vehicles around the United States in recent weeks due to the company’s CEO Elon Musk’s work with the Trump administration.
President Donald Trump has condemned the attacks on Tesla, with a spokesperson earlier this month saying the “ongoing and heinous acts of violence against Tesla by radical Leftist activists are nothing short of domestic terror.”
Musk has also labeled leftist violence against his vehicles “extreme domestic terrorism.”
