Reverend Al Sharpton hilariously exposed his ignorance on national television this week when he asked an MSNBC panel, “Can you imagine if James Madison or Thomas Jefferson tried to overthrow the government?”

Sharpton told the mainstream media analysts, “One day our children’s children will leave American history and can you imagine if James Madison or Thomas Jefferson tried to overthrow the government so they could stay in power? That’s what we’re looking at.”

Of course, any American with a middle school-level education should know Jefferson and Madison were revolutionaries in their time and participated in the founding of America by defeating the British military in a deadly war.

The reverend also proved he was unaware of another basic fact about the United States when he was shocked to learn the Constitution labels the nation a constitutional republic and not a democracy.

The internet was not kind to Sharpton, with many people calling him the dumbest person on television.
