A CNN panel had a difficult time Monday coping with the latest numbers showing former President Donald Trump leading Joe Biden by a wide margin in battleground states.
CNN’s senior data reporter Harry Enten broke down a recent New York Times poll showing Trump leading Biden in 5 battleground states: Arizona, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Nevada and Georgia.
“Frankly, for the Joe Biden campaign, these numbers are an absolute disaster,” Enten said.

The poll shows Trump leading Biden by a whopping 13 points in Arizona and 9 points in Georgia.
“Look at this — 9 in Georgia, 13 in Nevada? My goodness gracious. My God. That is a huge lead. No Democrat has lost that state since John Kerry lost it back in 2004,” Enten said.
Trump also leads by 6 points in Arizona, 3 points in Pennsylvania, and 1 point in Wisconsin.
Biden is only ahead by 1 point in Michigan.
Enten explained that some of the reasons for the widening margins in the Sun Belt states versus the Great Lakes states are due to a shift in support to Trump by Hispanics and blacks.
“The Trump coalition is changing. That’s basically what’s cooking here,” Enten said. “The Trump coalition is becoming more diverse, and of course, those Sun Belt battleground states are more diverse than the Great Lake battleground states.”
This is just the latest bad news for Biden coming from CNN.
On Sunday, anchor Fareed Zakaria warned that the trials against Trump are backfiring politically on Biden.
“Trump is now leading in almost all the swing states, but behind those numbers lie even more troubling details. As someone worried about the prospects of a second Trump term, I think it is best to be honest about reality,” Zakaria said.
“I understand that polls are not always accurate, but in general, they have tended to underestimate Donald Trump’s support, not overestimate it. I doubt that there are many shy Biden voters in the country.”
