A fire tore through the Bowling Green, Kentucky, office of Republican US Sen. Rand Paul Friday, with a cause for the blaze not yet determined.
The fire at the Senator’s downtown office building which also houses a law firm, started sometime around 2 a.m. Friday morning and led to massive structural damage including a roof collapse.
Photos circulating online showed the beloved Republican firebrand’s office engulfed in flames:

Some on social media questioned whether the cause of the fire could be politically motivated, considering it comes on the heels of his recent referral of former NIAID director Anthony Fauci to the DOJ for prosecution.

Meanwhile, Paul told the Bowling Green Daily News he was thankful for fire crews and first responders taking immediate action on the blaze.
“We are thankful for the Bowling Green first responders who arrived quickly to the scene to put out the fire, and are continuing to work with authorities to assess damages and to determine a cause,” Paul said, according to the Lexington Herald Leader. “We have a very well established emergency management plan and have the ability to continue operations that will not impact our work helping Kentuckians.”
