Socialist Senator Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) defended Kamala Harris’s apparent flip-flopping on issues Sunday, claiming the Democrat candidate is just being pragmatic “in order to win the election.”
MSNBC’s “Meet the Press” host Kristen Welker pointed out that the once-progressive vice president has suddenly changed her tune on banning fracking, advocating for Medicare For All, and other far-left issues.
“These are ideas that you have campaigned on. Do you think she’s abandoning her progressive ideals?” Welker asked.
Sanders replied, “No, I don’t think she’s abandoning her ideals. I think she’s trying to be pragmatic and doing what she thinks is right in order to win the election.”

In other words, she’s misrepresenting her far-left record to dupe the American people into voting for her.
And Sanders supports it.
Harris also walked back her previous support for an EV vehicle mandate, defunding the police, abolishing ICE, eliminating private health insurance, and the Green New Deal.
She’s even copied several of Donald Trump’s policy proposals in a bid to court moderate voters, such as building a wall on the southern border, No Taxes on Tips, raising the child tax credit, and keeping U.S. steel domestic.
But the difference between Harris’s actions and any other politician trying to win an election is she hasn’t even explained why she’s changed her positions on a number of issues, only claiming that her “values have not changed.”
“Politicians lie, obfuscate, twist, and change to suit their needs; this is a truth as old as it is self-evident. But Kamala Harris’ attempt to get to Nov. 5 without articulating a clear vision for the country — or even who she is — is so flagrantly disrespectful of the voters as to astonish even the most grizzled skeptics,” wrote Isaac Shorr in the New York Post last week.
“When she last ran for the White House, Harris expressed support for doing away with private health insurance, ICE, the defund-the-police movement, and the Green New Deal. Now she says that while she supports none of those initiatives, her ‘values have not changed.'”
“Harris’ insulting attempt to hold on to the crazy wing of her party while pulling moderates back in should trouble both groups, as well as raise this question: Just how little does she think of the American people?” he added.
