Will anyone call for Sleepy Joe to get congressional authorization?

The U.S. military on Tuesday executed airstrikes on Syrian facilities used by groups allegedly affiliated with Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

According to Col. Joe Buccino, spokesman for the U.S. Central Command, American forces engaged in “precision strikes” in Eastern Syria using eight fighter jets.

“At President Biden’s direction, US military forces conducted precision airstrikes in Deir ez-Zor Syria today. Today’s strikes were necessary to protect and defend U.S. personnel,” Buccino said in a statement. “The United States took proportionate, deliberate action intended to limit the risk of escalation and minimize the risk of casualties.”

The bunkers that were hit were supposedly being used for ammunition storage and logistics.

The U.S. did not report any casualties, but a UK watchdog group called The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights claims at least six Syrian and foreign militants were killed in the attack.

A statement released by Iran’s foreign ministry on Wednesday called the strikes a “terrorist act” by the United States that were in “violation of the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Syria.”

“They should immediately leave Syria and stop plundering oil and grain from that country,” it added.

According to the Biden administration, Sleepy Joe “gave the direction for these strikes pursuant to his Article II authority to protect and defend US personnel by disrupting or deterring attacks by Iran-backed groups.”

A senior Biden official reportedly told CNN Joe Biden held a national security meeting in the Oval Office to discuss the Syria strikes when he was in Washington to sign the Inflation Reduction Act on August 16.

Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and Joint Chiefs Chairman Gen. Mark Milley met with Biden on Monday, and he thereafter made the decision.

The U.S. military also claims it called off multiple strikes because surveillance showed there were people too close to the intended targets.

The attack was the first publicly disclosed American airstrike in Syria since January, and around 900 U.S. troops reportedly remain in the country.

Washington Free Beacon writer Adam Kredo accurately noted the Biden administration’s hypocrisy in playing tough with Iran while simultaneously funding the nation via Sleepy Joe’s nuclear deal.

The Biden administration has sent its proposal for the nuclear deal to Iranian leadership and is currently waiting on a response.

When the Biden administration first used U.S. military forces in Syria back in early 2021, politicians including some prominent Democrats spoke out against the abuse of power.

Senator Tim Kaine (D-Va.) correctly said at the time, “Offensive military action without congressional approval is not constitutional absent extraordinary circumstances. Congress must be fully briefed on this matter expeditiously.”

Time Magazine columnist Ian Bremmer also criticized the first Biden strikes in Syria as unconstitutional due to lack of congressional approval.

After Biden’s 2021 strikes in Syria, several prominent lawmakers called on rolling back the broad presidential war powers authorized during George W. Bush’s presidency in the aftermath of the 911 attacks.

Time will tell if Americans will wake from their Covid-induced slumber to condemn the unauthorized military action this time around.
