Biden campaign spokesperson Adrienne Elrod told the MSNBC audience Monday to expect “a very energized Joe Biden at the debate” against former President Donald Trump this week.

“I’ll tell ya, you’re going to see a very energized President Biden who’s looking forward to having these direct conversations with Donald Trump on Thursday night in Atlanta,” Elrod told MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell.

Did the Biden campaign just hint that Biden would be doped up before facing off with Trump?

Biden traveled to Camp David over the weekend to “prep” for the upcoming presidential debate against Trump.

The White House also cleared Biden’s schedule this week and said he would not return to Washington until after the debate.

Trump on Saturday speculated that Biden would “get a shot in the ass” and show up to the debate all “jacked up” on some kind of stimulative drug cocktail.

Trump had previously claimed Biden was “high as a kite” during his State of the Union address in March.

“As you know, it’s been reported that Crooked Joe has gone to a log cabin to study, prepare. No, he’s sleeping now,” Trump said at a rally in Philadelphia.

“Because they want to get him good and strong, so a little before debate time he gets a shot in the ass. They want to strengthen him up. I say he’ll come out all jacked up,” the 45th president added.

Many on social media questioned Elrod’s assurances about Biden’s energy levels:

Joe Biden’s frailty and cognitive decline has come under renewed scrutiny in recent days, first at the G7 in Europe where he was seen wandering aimlessly, and then at a Democrat fundraiser in Los Angeles, where former president Barack Obama had to usher Biden off stage after he froze and appeared confused.

Trump also said the Biden campaign asked CNN to allow the 90-minute debate to be performed sitting down, a claim which CNN denied.

“They’ve taken so much fun out of it,” Trump said. “There’s no audience. They actually wanted us to sit down…No audience: it’s like death.”
