Biden Echoes Maxine Waters: ‘I’m Praying’ For Guilty Verdict In Chauvin Trial Because ‘Evidence Is Overwhelming’

Joe Biden decided to weigh in on the ongoing murder trial of fired Minneapolis officer Derek Chauvin, claiming the evidence against him was “overwhelming.”

Just a day after the jury began deliberations, Biden told reporters that he was “praying” for the “right verdict”, rather than respecting the will of the jury.

“I’m praying the verdict is the right verdict,” Biden reportedly said Tuesday. “The evidence is overwhelming in my view.”

Biden’s irresponsible remarks echo the radicalism of Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.), who declared Sunday that she was “looking for a guilty verdict,” and encouraged protesters to get “more confrontational.”

“We’re looking for a guilty verdict,” she continued. “And we’re looking to see if all of the talk that took place and has been taking place after they saw what happened to George Floyd, if nothing does not happen, then we know that we’ve got to not only stay in the street, but we’ve got to fight for justice,” she said in Minneapolis.

Judge Peter Cahill, who is presiding over the Chauvin trial, condemned Waters’ “abhorrent” comments, and warned that they could be used on appeal that could result in the “whole trial being overturned.”

“I’ll give you that Congresswoman Waters may have given you something on appeal that may result on this whole trial being overturned,” Cahill told Chauvin’s defense lawyer on Monday.

“This goes back to what I’ve been saying from the beginning. I wish elected officials would stop talking about this case, especially in a manner that is disrespectful to the rule of law and to the judicial branch and our function. I think if they want to give their opinions, they should do so in a respectful and in a manner that is consistent with their oath to the Constitution.”

As legal analyst Will Chamberlain noted, Biden should have remained neutral to the jury’s decision and told Americans to “respect” the final verdict no matter what the outcome.

Notably, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey similarly suggested Monday that Chauvin should be found guilty.

It’s almost as if Democrats are trying to sabotage the trial.
