A Syrian migrant was arrested following a bloody attack on police officers in Germany this week, according to reports.
The shocking incident unfolded just after 6 p.m. on Tuesday evening in Nuremberg.
Authorities were alerted about a man yelling and menacing travelers with a broken glass bottle on a tram platform at Nuremberg Central Station, BILD reports.
Responding officers were charged by the suspect, who stabbed multiple cops with the improvised weapon while shouting Islamic battle cries.
Incredibly, as officers were working to subdue the dangerous suspect, several bystanders began to interfere with the apprehension.
Reinforcements arrived and the combative crowd was eventually dispersed.
The suspect was identified as a 28-year-old male migrant from Syria.
The Syrian did not appear to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol, but a blood draw was ordered.
“During the crime, the man with Syrian citizenship uttered ‘Allahu akbar’ several times,” police explained in a press release.
“In order to check whether the act could possibly be linked to an Islamist connection, the criminal police initiated appropriate investigations into the man’s surroundings. According to initial findings, the suspicion has not yet been confirmed.”
An investigation into attempted manslaughter is ongoing.
