Construction of President Trump’s border wall with Mexico, which was halted for four years under President Biden, has now resumed.

On Saturday, Michael Banks, Trump’s border patrol chief, posted pictures on Twitter of new panels being installed in New Mexico.

“USBP actively strengthens border security by refining strategies to deliver effective impedance and denial capabilities, addressing illegal cross-border activity head-on. Efforts like installing wall panels to fill critical gaps in Deming, New Mexico, exemplify our commitment to enhancing infrastructure and operational effectiveness. Agents drive these solutions by leveraging advanced technology and their ingenuity to adapt to evolving challenges, ensuring a more secure and managed border.”

Trump is expected to press Congress for more border-wall funding soon, via a new spending bill.

The Biden administration began auctioning off unused border-wall materials in 2023 at bargain-basement rates, but was challenged successfully in the courts by Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton and the Trump legal team. At the end of December 2024, a judge ordered all sales to be halted and for their to be an investigation into the sales that had taken place.

Both Paxton and Trump accused the Biden administration of deliberately attempting to “subvert” the will of the American people by intensifying sales of border-wall materials after Donald Trump’s 2024 election victory.
