BREAKING: Biden Tests Positive for Covid-19, Cancels Event

President Joe Biden tested positive for Covid-19, according to the White House.

The news reportedly broke when a speaker at UnidosUS, the nation’s largest Hispanic civil rights and advocacy organization, told the event audience in Las Vegas, Nevada, Wednesday Biden will not join due to not wanting to put anyone “at risk.”

“I was just on the phone with President Biden, and he shared his deep disappointment at not being able to join us this afternoon … He just tested positive for Covid. So of course, we understand he needs to take the precautions that have been recommended and he did not want to obviously put anyone at risk. He said to tell folks we’re not going to get rid of him quickly…”

Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre just released a statement with a note from Biden’s doctor:

According to Biden’s doctor, he’s enduring upper respiratory symptoms including a runny nose, a “non-productive cough”, and “general mailaise.”

“The President will be self-isolating in accordance with CDC guidance for symptomatic individuals,” said the doctor. “PCR confirmation testing will be pending. His symptoms remain mild, his respiratory rate is normal at 16, his temperature is normal at 97.8 and his pulse oximetry is normal at 97%.”

“The President has received his first dose of Paxlovid. He will be self-isolating at his home in Rehoboth.”

CNBC reports:

The president, who was campaigning in Las Vegas, “is experiencing mild symptoms,” White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said in a statement.

Biden “will be returning to Delaware where he will self-isolate and will continue to carry out all of his duties fully during that time,” she said.

“The White House will provide regular updates on the President’s status as he continues to carry out the full duties of the office while in isolation.”

Biden is vaccinated and boosted, she noted.

This news comes on the heels of Biden admitting he’d consider dropping out of the 2024 election if a “medical condition” emerged.
