The vehicle used in a suspected terror attack in New Orleans was tracked crossing the southern border just weeks ago, according to reports.
Just after 3 a.m. on Wednesday, a male driver plowed through crowds at the intersection of Bourbon and Canal Streets in a pickup truck before exiting the vehicle and opening fire on survivors.
Federal sources have now informed Fox News that the truck, which appears to be a Ford Lightning with Texas plates, was driven across the border sometime in November.
However, it remains unclear whether the suspected terrorist was in the truck at that time.
“We’re hearing that the vehicle was traced to coming across from Mexico into the United States at Eagle Pass, Texas, two days ago,” Fox News correspondent David Spunt originally stated before the outlet updated their reporting to reflect that the crossing had likely taken place in November.
“We just know that the actual license plate was picked up by a reader at a border crossing.”

The truck in question was recently rented via Turo, a peer-to-peer car sharing marketplace, according to ABC 13 reporter Briana Conner.
The owner of the truck reportedly resides in Houston and has been contacted by federal investigators.

Authorities also believe that a fire at an Airbnb in the St. Roch neighborhood of New Orleans is connected with the New Year’s Day massacre.
Sources told The Advocate the residence may have been rented by the suspect, indicating his identity could soon be made public.
