GOP presidential frontrunner Donald Trump posted to Truth Social claiming the January 6th Committee “illegally destroyed their records and documents” to prevent him from using the evidence in his upcoming court cases.
On Tuesday night, Trump wrote, “So now that I have full Subpoena Power because of the Freedom of Speech Sham Indictment by Crooked Joe Biden, Deranged Jack Smith, and the DOJ, it has just been reported that the Unselect January 6th Committee of Political Hacks and Thugs has illegally destroyed their Records and Documents.”
He continued, “This is unthinkable, and the Fake Political Indictment against me must be immediately withdrawn. The system is Rigged & Corrupt, very much like the Presidential Election of 2020. We are a Nation in Decline!”
A couple of hours later, Trump added, “The January 6th Unselect Committee got rid of EVERYTHING! Discarded, Deleted, Thrown Out. A Flagrant Violation of the law. They had so much to hide, and now that I have Subpoena Power, they didn’t want to get caught. They knew EXACTLY what they were doing. AN EGREGIOUS CRIMINAL ACT & BLATANT DISREGARD OF THE LAW! Can you imagine if I would have done such a thing???
The former POTUS again told his followers on Wednesday morning, “The January 6 unselect committee extinguished and destroyed all ‘evidence’ & records. Criminals!”
The news that the committee failed to preserve documents, data and video depositions from its hearings and investigation was revealed by GOP Rep. Barry Loudermilk of Georgia, who is the chairman of the Subcommittee on Oversight for the Committee on House Administration.
Loudermilk told Fox Digital, “Part of our task as this oversight subcommittee is to actually address the security failures, look into how did it happen… how were these folks able to get into the Capitol.”
He explained the team within the J6 Committee that was tasked with looking into Capitol security failures was stonewalled by the committee so they could shift the blame onto Trump.
On Tuesday, Loudermilk requested the White House counsel and DHS counsel “arrange for the return of all original documents and records related to the events of January 6, 2021, that originated from the Select Committee.”
“We’re looking at the security failure at the Capitol and we’re looking at how the January 6 committee operated itself and right now we’re having so much trouble with the January 6 committee and how it operated that It’s really impending our ability to investigate thoroughly the security failures at the Capitol,” the congressman said.
This is a clear example of obstruction of justice, but the corrupt political establishment is prepared to break every law in America in order to keep Donald Trump out of office as he’s promised to hold the Deep State accountable if re-elected.
