Trump Is Now Permanently Banned On Twitter
“After close review of recent Tweets from the @realDonaldTrump account and the context around them we have permanently suspended the account due to the risk of further incitement of violence,” the company wrote in a statement Friday afternoon.
The ban comes on the heels of a 12-hour suspension of the president’s Twitter account earlier this week after the company claimed he was “inciting violence,” despite him urging protesters for calm and asking them to go home amid the deadly siege on the US Capitol.
The loss of the Twitter platform is especially detrimental to the president as it was his main vehicle of communication to his over 80 million followers.
Twitter is merely the latest social media platform to restrict the president’s use after Facebook and Instagram banned him earlier this week.

The permanent ban also follows a message from former First Lady Michelle Obama to Big Tech companies Thursday encouraging them to take Trump off their platforms indefinitely.
“Now is the time for Silicon Valley companies to stop enabling this monstrous behavior – and go even further than they have already by permanently banning this man from their platforms and putting in place policies to prevent their technology from being used by the nation’s leaders to fuel insurrection,” Obama said in a statement.
On Friday, Twitter additionally banned the accounts of former Trump National Security adviser Michael Flynn and pro-Trump lawyer Sidney Powell, claiming “The accounts have been suspended in line with our policy on Coordinated Harmful Activity,” according to NBC News.
Other companies that have banned the president this week include: Shopify (which shut down the shop.donaldjtrump.com store), Snapchat and Twitch.
Disclose.tv reports President Trump has joined Twitter’s free-speech alternative Parler, according to Sean Hannity.
