CNN needs to “step up and fire” its chief media correspondent Brian Stelter for failing to report on president Jeffrey Zucker’s extramarital affair, according to a network insider.
The CNN employee, who insisted on anonymity, claimed Stelter should not have been scooped by all the other networks about his own boss.
“The network needs to step up and fire Brian Stelter,” a CNN insider told The Daily Mail last week. “He is allegedly our top media reporter – yet he failed to report on the scoop that everyone in the office knew. And if he wants to say he didn’t know, he is truly terrible at his job.”
Another “cable news veteran” told The Daily Mail that Stelter “should be calling his agent to start looking for another job.”
“He’s been Jeff Zucker’s water boy for years and no one believes he didn’t know about all of this,” the news veteran said.
“He’s been sitting on his moral high horse doing Jeff’s bidding and ripping Fox and every other media outlet that Jeff tells him to while his ratings crash and burn. Where was he on the biggest story at his own network after chastising everyone else?”
Revelations of Zucker’s affair with colleague Allison Gollust surfaced last week amid CNN’s sexual harassment probe of its former top anchor Chris Cuomo, who was fired from the network last December for leveraging his status at the network to help his brother, disgraced former Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D-N.Y.) with his own sexual harassment legal trouble.
This comes amid Stelter’s flailing antics to discredit Fox News and Joe Rogan, whose ratings have been eclipsing CNN’s for many months, especially as CNN’s own ratings crater by 90% from this time last year.
