Congress has voted to override President Trump’s veto of the NDAA defense package on Friday, showcasing the GOP’s capitulation to Big Tech, cancel culture, and neocon foreign policy.
The Republican-led Senate voted 81-13 to override Trump’s veto of the 2021 National Defense Authorization Act, following the House’s House 322-87 override vote earlier this week.
Trump called out the weak Republicans for caving to the Democrats again.
“Our Republican Senate just missed the opportunity to get rid of Section 230, which gives unlimited power to Big Tech companies. Pathetic!!! Now they want to give people ravaged by the China Virus $600, rather than the $2000 which they so desperately need. Not fair, or smart!” Trump tweeted Friday.
Earlier this week, Trump highlighted the many big problems with the defense bill, including renaming confederate military installations and failing to address Big Tech’s mass censorship, calling the passage of the bill “an act of cowardice and total submission.”
Some GOP leaders dismissed Trump’s criticism, claiming it was just a stunt.
“I think it was more about making a statement than anything else,” said Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas.).
