Chants in South Africa sung at massive gatherings urging to “Kill the Boer, Kill the Farmer” aren’t actually calls for violence against the nation’s Afrikaner population, a CNN correspondent attempted to claim Wednesday.

Discussing President Donald Trump’s confrontation of South African President Cyril Ramaphosa with a video proving the killing of Afrikaners in the nation, CNN international correspondent Larry Madowo claimed the chants in the video led by member of parliament and Marxist Party Leader Julius Malema were being deliberately misrepresented.

“What the video show is Julius Malema, the far left opposition party leader of South Africa. His part is called the Economic Freedom Fighters…What Julius Malema was singing, ‘Kill the Boer, Kill the Farmer, was an anti-apartheid song from this struggle against white minority rule in South Africa. They’ve explained that this is not a literal attack…call to attack to ‘Kill the Farmer,’ because of the historical nature of that,” Madowo claimed.

The correspondent went on to claim Trump supporters have exploited the chant for political purposes, despite over 3,000 documented killings of white farmers in South Africa.

“But it’s been weaponized by groups in South Africa and increasingly by the MAGA right in the United States to essentially misrepresent what is going on in the country,” Madowo said.

During a meeting at the White House Wednesday, Trump asked staffers to dim the lights as he showed Ramaphosa a compilation featuring Malema publicly supporting the murder of white citizens.

Here’s the video shown by the president to Ramaphosa and the press:

Ahead of the meeting, Ramaphosa had denied Trump’s claims of Afrikaner genocide, with the media and other leftists vehemently protesting the administration’s efforts to resettle South African refugees escaping persecution.

Despite Trump providing proof of the hatred towards white Afrikaners in South Africa, a CNN Breaking News headline still claimed Trump “pushed unsubstantiated claims of ‘White genocide’ in South Africa…”
