The two RINO Republicans on the January 6 Committee appear to be suffering bouts of delusions of grandeur, mistakenly believing the conservative base is straying away from former President Donald Trump in favor of the establishment wing of the GOP.
Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) hinted that she’s considering running for president in 2024 despite polling 30 points below her Trump-endorsed primary opponent.
“At this point, I haven’t made a decision on 2024…I’ll make a decision on 2024 down the road,” Cheney said Sunday on CNN, adding that she is focused on her work with the Jan. 6 committee.
“At this point, I have not made a decision about 2024.”

“But I do think as we look towards the next presidential election, as I said, you know, I believe that our nation stands on the edge of an abyss and I do believe that we all have to really think very seriously about the dangers we face and the threats we face and we have to elect serious candidates,” she added.
Cheney is so deeply unpopular among her Wyoming constituents that she’s resorted to appealing to Democrats for fundraising.
Meanwhile, Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.), who is slated to retire at the end of his term in January in light of his bleak polling numbers, claimed that former President Donald Trump is “becoming irrelevant.”
“This doesn’t appear to be having, you know, a ton of impact. Maybe people are shifting more towards a potential for, I don’t know, a Ron DeSantis. Trumpism isn’t dying, even though Trump is becoming irrelevant,” Kinzinger stated Sunday on ABC. “I am hearing a lot of anecdotal stuff, around the edges, of people who’ve been hard core with Trump who now just can’t stand him.”

Contrast Kinzinger’s statements with Trump’s rock-star reception at the TPUSA summit in Tampa, Florida on Saturday, where thousands of attendees went wild over the prospect of Trump running again in 2024.

Cheney and Kinzinger were two of the 10 House Republicans who voted to impeach Trump following the January 6 protests.
The others have either opted not to run again in the midterms or face Trump-backed primary challengers.
Despite the media elevating Cheney and Kinzinger, the reality on the ground suggests Trump is still firmly in control of the trajectory of the Republican Party and candidates he supported in primaries are continuing to achieve victories ahead of the midterm elections.
