House Democrats introduced a bill Tuesday to erect a “permanent exhibit” memorializing the “attack on the Capitol.”
The so-called “Capitol Remembrance Act” cosponsored by 20 Democrats seeks to “direct the Architect of the Capitol to design and install in the United States Capitol an exhibit that depicts the attack on the Capitol that occurred on January 6, 2021.”
Not later than 2 years after the date of enactment of this Act, the Architect of the Capitol, in consultation with the Joint Committee on the Library, shall carry out a project to design and install in a prominent location in the United States Capitol a permanent exhibit that depicts the attack on the Capitol that occurred on January 6, 2021.
Additionally, the bill requires “damaged property”, photographs, and a plaque honoring the “sacrifice of heroes, including Capitol Officer Brian Sicknick” — who died of natural causes — to be included in the memorial.
Notably, the Democrats and their media allies have been pushing the debunked news story that Sicknick was beaten to death with a fire extinguisher by a Capitol protester.
The bill even says artwork may be commissioned to frame the protest into an insurrection.
“The Architect may include artwork created to depict the attack on the Capitol,” the bill adds.
The price tag of the project is not specified, but the bill says the exhibit will appropriate “such sums as are necessary to carry out this Act.”
This is just another instance of Democrats continuing to exploit the January 6 protest as an “attack on democracy” as the first anniversary approaches.
