Donald Trump Jr., the eldest son of US President-elect Donald Trump, was dispatched to Greenland Tuesday seeking to meet the country’s leaders and propose a possible acquisition deal.
“Greenland loves America and Trump!!!” Don. Jr. captioned a photo alongside Greenlanders wearing Trump gear. “Incredible people with an equally awesome reception. They just want to be able to utilize some of the incredible resources that they have and allow themselves, their country, and their kids to flourish.”
Video showed Trump Force One arriving in Greenland.
“Don Jr. and my Reps landing in Greenland. The reception has been great,” Trump wrote in an update on Truth Social Tuesday morning.
“They, and the Free World, need safety, security, strength, and PEACE! This is a deal that must happen. MAGA. MAKE GREENLAND GREAT AGAIN!”
At a press conference Tuesday, Trump discussed attaining Greenland as a military resource “for national security purposes.”
When later asked by a reporter whether he could rule out using “military or economic coercion” in Panama or Greenland negotiations, Trump firmly responded, “No.”
Trump had previously joked about acquiring Greenland in 2019.
However, the proposal no longer appears to be a joke.
