Elon Musk floated the idea he’d step back from running Twitter after it was reported he had met with former Trump advisor Jared Kushner, fueling speculation the two are connected.
Musk abruptly posted a poll on Twitter Sunday night asking the Twitterverse if he should step down from running Twitter.
Should I step down as head of Twitter? I will abide by the results of this poll.

Given that the most active Twitter users are likely left-leaning – and thus unhappy with Musk – it’s as if Musk wants to leave Twitter to focus on his other companies since he probably knew he’d be voted out.
The poll comes after he was spotted meeting with Kushner at the World Cup Final in Qatar.
“Twitter CEO Elon Musk and former White House senior adviser Jared Kushner were spotted enjoying the 2022 FIFA World Cup final on Sunday at Lusail Stadium in Lusail, Qatar,” reported The Hill. “…Kushner was seen standing next to Musk at the game.”
“The former White House adviser, who is married to former President Trump’s daughter Ivanka Trump, was seen at other World Cup matches as well, including the United States’ World Cup match against England with the Trump family.”
It’s not unreasonable then to wonder if his meeting with Kushner is linked to the poll, especially given that it wasn’t a chance encounter at the World Cup but rather the two sat together.
