The Trump administration has offered buyouts to all CIA employees as part of efforts to restructure the intel agency and cut waste, fraud and abuse.
The Wall Street Journal reported Tuesday CIA employees will have the opportunity to accept the buyout offers “and receive about eight months of pay and benefits,” or tender their resignations.
Additionally, the spy agency has frozen hiring for prospective employees, with new recruits being carefully vetted to ensure they “have the right background for the agency’s new goals.”
According to WSJ, the move is intended to ensure the agency is staffed by employees who favor MAGA: “Trump administration officials have said the offers are also meant to signal to those who oppose Trump’s agenda to find work elsewhere.”
In a comment to NBC, a CIA spokesperson noted, “Director [John] Ratcliffe is moving swiftly to ensure the CIA workforce is responsive to the Administration’s national security priorities.”
“These moves are part of a holistic strategy to infuse the Agency with renewed energy, provide opportunities for rising leaders to emerge, and better position the CIA to deliver on its mission,” the spokesperson added.
The intel agency buyouts come after Trump extended a similar offer last week to 2 million federal workers, providing full salary and benefits until September 30 — though they must decide by Thursday, Feb. 6.
On Wednesday, officials with the Department of Government Efficiency were also seen at FBI headquarters ahead of rumored cuts to potentially 5,000 bureau employees.
The president is moving at lightning speed to drain the Deep State swamp.
