A Florida family is demanding justice after thieves trespassed on their property, stole their two horses, and butchered them for meat, a bizarre story that comes as a national conversation about migrants eating pets is underway.

While the family in Southwest Miami-Dade did not speculate migrants may be responsible, they told WSVN 7News the horses were considered dear family members.

“This is the same thing as going into somebody’s yard, taking their dog and cooking it,” the devastated father told reporters.

On Sunday morning, the man said he noticed his fence was cut and soon realized his two station horses, “Sammy” and “More On The Home Front,” were missing from their stalls.

The horses’ corpses were later found blocks away by a roadside, slaughtered and butchered.

“They’re our children and they were abducted and killed for meat,” the man lamented.

“You know our children are heartbroken. My wife’s heartbroken and you know we’re just trying to get through this.”

Miami-Dade Police Dept. Detective Alvaro Zabaleta urged members of the community with any info on the crimes to come forward.

“Let’s give some closure to the family and of course put behind bars these individuals that would do such a heinous crime,” Zabaleta said.

The mysterious equine abduction coincidentally comes amid reports on the purported third-world culinary habits of Haitian migrants inhabiting Springfield, Ohio, whose residents have claimed their new neighbors are stealing ducks and pets to eat, an issue Donald Trump brought national attention to during a debate earlier this month.

One Springfield resident claimed he’d seen Haitians in a van driving around and picking up cats.

Other social media users have pointed out Haitians eat cats both for sustenance and black magic rituals.

While it’s unclear who’s responsible for the missing horses, the recent national conversation raises questions about whether third-world migrants could be involved in such a bizarre incident.
