A convicted felon was found passed out on drugs in his car last week with hundreds of California election recall ballots and drivers licenses.

About 300 ballots were found in the vehicle, which was parked on a 7-Eleven lot on Aug. 16, according to the Torrance Police Department.

“Investigators are trying to figure out how the election ballots ended up in the suspect’s vehicle and what their intent was in having them,” police officials said in a statement. “This is an isolated incident and is not related to any additional thefts of election ballots.”

Police also found a loaded firearm, methamphetamine, Xanax pills, thousands of pieces of mail, a scale, and numerous California drivers licenses and credit cards that were in other people’s names.

The felon was arrested for a number of offenses, including weapons violations, narcotics and forgery violations.

Officials began sending out ballots for the recall election against Democrat Governor Gavin Newsom across the state last week, with the special election slated for September 14.

This comes just days after a woman was caught on camera stealing Newsom recall ballots from mailboxes in Los Angeles using a master key.

Democrat operatives are worried Newsom is facing an uphill battle to defend his post given his own supporters are generally complacent about the election, while conservative enthusiasm to unseat him is palpable.

“If everybody voted, then Newsom would actually be in a safe place right now. But that’s not the way elections in this country work. I think the governor and his team understand that even his supporters aren’t all that excited about him right now,” politics professor Dan Schnur told CNBC earlier this month.

This likely won’t be the last time we see ballot fraud shenanigans taking place before the Sept. 14 recall election of Newsom.
