Martin County, Florida, Sheriff William D. Snyder spoke with the press on Monday to update the nation on his department’s arrest of would-be Trump assassin Ryan Wesley Routh Sunday.
Officer Snyder revealed the gunman had “no connections” to the Martin County area, asking, “How does a guy from not here get all the way to Trump International, realize that the president, former President of the United States is golfing, and is able to get a rifle into that vicinity?”

The sheriff said Secret Service and the FBI will be trying to figure out if Routh was “part of a conspiracy.”
“Is he a lone gunman? If he’s a lone gunman, then President Trump is that much safer because we have him. But, if he’s part of a conspiracy then this thing really takes on a very ominous tone,” Snyder added.
With numerous reports linking the suspect to the Ukrainian military, CIA and U.S. State Dept., it’s entirely possible he had assistance planning the attack.
