An African illegal migrant with a record of sexual assault was arrested for abducting and raping a 15-year-old Ukrainian girl in France, according to reports.
Charges were announced this week against the suspect, a 27-year-old Tunisian national who was already under orders to leave French territory at the time of the attack, which unfolded in Meaux, a commune in the Paris metro region, Actu17 reports.
The Tunisian has been charged with rape and sexual assault, among other offenses, public prosecutor Jean-Baptiste Bladier said in a statement on Saturday.
The Tunisian is suspected of “forcibly taking” the teenage victim to his residence after meeting her outside, and then raping her.
The girl said she managed to escape “while her attacker was showering.”
The Tunisian has already been convicted of sexual assault in France, according to the prosecutor.
