On Monday evening it was reported that French leader Emmanuel Macron is seeking to deploy operational nuclear weapons in Germany in a snub-move to President Donald Trump who is working to end the war in Ukraine and is looking to achieve global nuclear arms reduction.
“Fighter jets carrying nuclear weapons could potentially be deployed to Germany as the U.S. threatens to withdraw its forces from the Continent,” Yahoo said Monday evening. “Friedrich Merz, expected to be the next German chancellor after winning his country’s elections on Sunday, has called on Britain and France to extend their nuclear protection as he seeks ‘independence’ for Europe from Donald Trump’s America.”
In response, the U.K. may seek to expand its nuclear destructive potential as well.
“A French official told The Telegraph that deploying fighter jets would send a message to Vladimir Putin, while diplomats in Berlin suggested it would pressure Sir Keir Starmer to do the same,” Yahoo said Monday evening.
Macron has positioned himself as the big man in the old country as corporate news reports he is now the Parisian Sun King with nuclear weapons.
“Macron reinforced his image of the imperial French ‘Sun King’ and his bid to become the dominant voice on Ukraine and European security,” The AP said February 18.
“With a presidential mandate until 2027 and France’s nuclear arsenal making it the bloc’s only atomic power, Macron has positioned himself as the only politician with both the ambition and authority to act,” The AP said February 18.
Notably, beside’s Biden’s America, the only other country to strike Russia with long range nuclear-capable missiles (with conventional explosives) was the U.K. and France.
“The report comes as Friedrich Merz, whose Christian Democratic Union (CDU) won Germany’s parliamentary election on Sunday, has urged the U.K. and France to extend their nuclear protection to Germany,” RT said Tuesday. “France’s nuclear arsenal, estimated to contain around 300 warheads, currently operates independently from NATO, whereas Britain’s nuclear capabilities are integrated into the bloc’s defense strategy.”
