Four suspects have been arrested and more are being sought after a group of foreign men were caught sexually assaulting a pair of female tourists in the shadow of the Eiffel Tower this weekend, according to reports.
The disturbing incident unfolded in the French capital during the overnight hours between Saturday and Sunday.
Officers were on patrol just after 2 a.m. on the Champ-de-Mars, a large park under the iconic Paris structure, when they encountered a sex attack in progress.
At least seven male suspects had surrounded two Latvian women and were grabbing them and trying to tear their clothes off.
“One kissed the breasts of one of the victims, attempting to undress her,” a law enforcement source told Actu 17. “They both suffered touching of their intimate parts.”
Four of the suspects were arrested on the spot, but others managed to escape.
The men were identified as migrants from Algeria and Egypt, but their immigration statuses were not made public.
Authorities are still working to locate at least three more suspects at the time of this writing.
