Police in Germany were called to a swimming pool in Berlin after a brawl broke out between rival groups of ‘teens’ this week, according to authorities.
The latest incident at a European aquatic facility during the young bathing season unfolded at around 5 p.m. on Sunday in the capital city.
Officers were notified about a mob fight at the Pankower Sommerbad in the borough of Pankow.
“The argument between the approximately 20 people finally escalated into a scuffle, so an employee of a security service alerted the police. The intervention of the security service staff in the tumult broke it up and the young people fled in all directions,” Berlin police explained in a press release.
“However, a 14-year-old and a 16-year-old were arrested and the 16-year-old and a 24-year-old security officer physically injured each other.”
The teens were later released to their parents and caretakers, and it is unclear if any suspects will face legal consequences.
The violent episode is just one of a few that have already taken place at aquatic centers in Germany so far this year.
Last week, a young mother was brutally attacked in front of her children by a mob of ‘youths’ wreaking havoc at a swimming pool in Enkenbach-Alsenborn.
Days earlier, a Syrian migrant was arrested after multiple men sexually assaulted at least seven girls at a public pool in Stuttgart.
