A male suspect was apprehended at a swimming pool in Germany after a large number of underage girls reported being sexually assaulted in a single day, authorities say.
The disturbing string of events unfolded on Thursday afternoon in Nuremberg.
A 16-year-old girl told staff at an outdoor pool in western Nuremberg she had been grabbed multiple times by a stranger.
“During the on-site recording by a patrol from the Nuremberg-West police station, eight other injured girls aged 13 to 16 reported that they had also been touched in a sexually oriented manner by the suspect in the water,” police explained in a press release.
Officers located the suspect, a 20-year-old man, hiding in a locker room.
He was taken into custody but later released pending further investigation.
No other information about the suspect was made public.
