Harris campaign co-chair Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D-Mich.) claimed giving driver’s licenses, free college, and free health care to illegal aliens is “pragmatic” policy that will “resonate with Americans.”
Whitmer made the remarks on MSNBC’s “Meet the Press” on Sunday when asked by host Kristen Welker her thoughts on Harris’s running mate Gov. Tim Walz enacting those radical policies in his state of Minnesota.
“Obviously some of his policies in his state have come into focus,” Welker began. “He signed into law initiatives allowing undocumented immigrants to apply for driver’s licenses, quality free tuition for public universities, and enroll in the state’s free healthcare program from low-income residents. Would you like to see the Harris administration adopt those same policies, governor?”

Whitmer replied, “Tim Walz is a pragmatic guy. He’s a Midwesterner just like me, and I think some of the wonderful things he’s done in Minnesota resonate with Americans in all states.”
Unsatisfied with her response, Welker again asked Whitmer if she would support the Harris administration adopting those specific policies for illegal aliens.
Whitmer, modifying her tone to sound more moderate ahead of the election, said America needs a “secure border” and that illegals should have “some form of ID” to help facilitate bringing them in “legally.”
“I think what we need to do is have an immigration system that works. We need to secure the border, we need to make sure that when people are in this country, that they have access to have some form of ID, that’s really important,” she said.

“The spirit of those things should be part of any vision for the country and our security and how we bring great people into this country legally,” she added.
Interesting comments from the Michigan governor given in 2018 she called for abolishing Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
Gov. Gretchen Whitmer has a message for Michigan while gangs of illegal immigrants are ransacking homes:
“Do you think we should abolish ICE?”
Whitmer: “Yeah”
